Giving to Jewish Studies

The Division of Humanities and Fine Arts at UC Santa Barbara is proud to launch a major Jewish Studies initiative. Exciting opportunities abound to expand Jewish Studies in the humanities and arts. Over the last twelve years, public programming has built strong relationships between the campus and the community; the Jewish community and Jewish institutions of the region have grown and strengthened; and great energy, momentum and support have emerged on the campus. In addition, UC Santa Barbara is one of the world’s top research institutions (with five Nobel Laureates) and offers exceptional strength and leadership in interdisciplinary collaboration across departments and colleges. Building on the interdisciplinary strengths of our campus, which includes leading Jewish Studies scholarship in such fields as Religious Studies, History, Film Studies, Comparative Literature, and Art History, we seek annual, current-use funding and permanent endowments to allow us to:

  • create a Center for Jewish Studies
  • establish endowed chairs and program endowments in Jewish Studies
  • recruit new faculty and graduate students working in Jewish Studies
  • invite visiting scholars and professors to teach Jewish Studies and deepen the intellectual community for Jewish Studies scholarship
  • expand and deepen our interdisciplinary, Jewish Studies curriculum

A wide range of giving opportunities is available. We invite you to join our leadership donors. UC Santa Barbara gratefully accepts gifts of a variety of types of assets from alumni and friends, including appreciated securities, cash, and property. Pledges can be paid over time. Some gift plans feature current tax benefits, income to you, and other welcome advantages for you and UC Santa Barbara. Gifts to UC Santa Barbara can be made outright, or through planned giving vehicles such as charitable unitrusts, charitable lead trusts, gift annuities, bequests, or other vehicles.

Our development professionals are pleased to work with you to structure a gift that meets your personal, financial, and philanthropic goals.
